New Partnership Alert: RKC Collective and Road Rangers

We’re thrilled to announce a new chapter in our journey as the RKC Collective Cycling Team proudly partners with the Road Rangers! This collaboration is more than just a partnership—it’s a commitment to enhancing the safety and experience of cycling events in South Africa.

About the Road Rangers

Founded and led by Craig Bezuidenhout since 2009, the Road Rangers have built a stellar reputation for their dedication to cycling safety. What sets them apart is their rigorous training and genuine commitment to ensuring the well-being of every cyclist. The Road Rangers are not just any group of motorcyclists; they are highly trained and accredited professionals who spend countless hours honing their skills to become the best in the business.

On most Saturday mornings, you’ll find Road Ranger Marshalls and Trainee Marshalls undergoing extensive training in and around Gauteng, continuously improving their skills and knowledge.

What Cyclists Can Expect from Road Rangers

General Safety First
The primary focus of the Road Rangers is general safety. This encompasses:

  • Maintaining the safe flow of traffic.
  • Ensuring the safe progress of all competitors.
  • Providing medical first aid when needed.

Marshalling Duties
Here’s what you can expect from a Road Ranger Safety Marshall:

  • Leading Your Peloton: The Lead Marshall maintains a safe distance ahead and ensures safe passage through intersections. They use universal hand signals to indicate caution to other road users.
  • Sweeping Behind the Group: Marshals ensure that the last competitors safely reach the finish line and assist in managing traffic around the group.
  • Assisting at Incidents: In case of an accident, the Road Ranger will secure the area, provide first aid, and call for additional medical assistance if necessary.
  • Refereeing: Marshals do not offer refereeing assistance but will report any incidents to the judges.

Overtaking and Safety
Marshals assist vehicles overtaking the group with the utmost care. Cyclists are advised to keep to the left and be aware of approaching vehicles to ensure their safety.

Why This Partnership Matters

At RKC Collective, we believe that safety and performance go hand in hand. By partnering with the Road Rangers, we’re not just enhancing our events—we’re ensuring that every ride is as safe and enjoyable as possible. Their expertise will be invaluable in managing our outrides and group rides, making sure that every event is up to the highest standards of safety and professionalism.

We look forward to working closely with the Road Rangers and are excited about the positive impact this partnership will bring to our cycling community. Here’s to safer, more enjoyable rides ahead!

Ride safe and stay tuned for more updates!
